Why conduct a Mission Study?

To understand all aspects of our history and how our history affects current and future possibilities.    This is important because "coming to terms with history" is commonly regarded as one of the congregations "developmental tasks" during a time of transition.

To discover our core values and purpose as a congregation. What really matters to us, what is our reason for being, what is it that makes us First Pres?

To identify our hopes and dreams for our future.Discernment: Where is God leading us? Envisioning:What would our church look like if our hopes were not realized. Strategy:What could we do now, next month, next year, in the next five years, to become the church God wants us to be?

To formulate clear expressions of the congregation's Mission and Vision, including but not limited to: Mission and Vision Statements, phrases and taglines to be used in our publications including website, quarterly news letters and bulletins.

If you would like to participate in our mission study you are in the right place!  Though we know you will answer each question as thoughtfully as possible, please understand that we may follow up on a few of your answers by phone.
